Defensive errors cost the Woods their first Suburban League victory of the season as they were held to a draw by leaders Hanworth Villa.
The first came after 17 minutes when a ball into the box wasn’t cleared and Villa pounced to take the lead. However the Woods responded well and when Freddie Brooks knocked in a good cross after 26 minutes, Rashid Obbadi headed home.
It remained that way to half-time, with Northwood shading things but disaster struck just four minutes after the break as the ball was given away from a free-kick straight to a Hanworth forward, who gratefully ran through to restore their lead.
Again the Woods hit back swiftly and were level again after 56 minutes as skipper Ed Hatcher headed in another Brooks cross. Northwood went looking for a winner and were rewarded when Obbadi neatly lobbed the ‘keeper to make it 3-2 with ten minutes remaining.
They should have held on from there but yet another error at the back gave Villa a chance and though Garry Malone saved the first effort, the ball ran loose and was knocked in to make it 3-3.
